Christians Back Independence

Christians for Independence (CFI) was founded in 2009 on an awareness that the existence of nations is woven into the very fabric of the Biblical narrative, as is the promise of the blessings that follow when nations listen to, and obey, the Word of God.

CFI believes that we, in Scotland, will not reach our full potential as a nation until we are once again independent and that the Scottish nation, with its people and values, can be a shining beacon in a darkened world.

Few would disagree that Scotland is a historic nation and that nations normally revel in their independence. We firmly believe that it is time for Scotland to take its place in the world as a normal independent nation again and we urge all Christians to support independence-supporting parties at the upcoming general election.

We believe that Scotland will never get a fair deal while it is shackled to a corrupt and unfair Westminster where Scotland is ignored, and that we will reach our full potential only if independent. Scotland is already a very compassionate and just country, which we believe is the legacy of our Christian heritage.

We support an independent Scotland whose motto is the command of Jesus to “Love your neighbour as yourself”. An independent Scotland where we ensure that all are treated with justice, kindness and compassion. An independent Scotland where the gap between rich and poor is narrowed by fair taxation, by improving job prospects and by adequate provision of social security for all who need it.

We wish to see our nation’s wealth spent on education, health, welfare and the environment while rejecting nuclear weapons and we believe this is much more likely to happen with independence.
