2015 Aberdeen

2015  SNP  Conference  Fringe  Event

In 2015 we held a fringe event at the SNP conference in Aberdeen; three of our newer politicians spoke of how their Christian faith impacts on their political lives.  New MPs Brendan O’Hara (Argyll & Bute) and Carol Monaghan (Glasgow North West) were joined on the panel by Kate Forbes (then the candidate, now the MSP for the Holyrood seat of Skye, Lochaber, and Badenoch).  They were introduced by John Mason MSP (Glasgow Shettleston).

They answered a wide range of questions from the audience on subjects including how Christians in politics should treat their opponents, abortion, how we live in an increasingly secular society, and what Christian activity there is at Westminster. All three emphasised that faith was key for them but they wanted to be known as much more than just religious politicians.

We were very grateful to all for taking part –   being open about your faith in today’s environment is not always easy.
